Keyworker system.
This gives each member of staff particular responsibility for just a few children, each child in the group has one special adult to relate to, which can make settling in to group very much easier. In addition the keyworker is in a position to tailor the groups curriculum to the unique needs of each individual child. The Keyworker maintains links with the child’s home setting by working with parents through shared record keeping to ensure that all children are supported in reaching their full potential.
The Pre-School Rota
Research shows that children learn better when their parents are involved. Our rota system involves all parents staying and helping during a session on a regular basis. This helps us to maintain the high ratio of adults to children, guaranteeing individual care and attention for each child. It also gives parents the opportunity to take an active part in the group, to see what happens and to talk about it afterwards with their child. We encourage Nanna’s, Grandad’s to come for a rota day too!
Training
Our membership of both the Pre-School Alliance and Children’s Link ensures that we are constantly in touch with new thinking in the field of child education and care. The pre-school receives a monthly magazine giving us up to date information, we also have access to a range of professionally produced publications. We are also able to access ongoing training through the Pre-School Learning Alliance and CACHE courses.
Our policy statements are available to read at any time. A copy of our polices can be found in the resource area – please ask a member of staff to get them for you.
