Party Time

December 20, 2011

Well last week was the last week of term – and what a busy week it was! On Tuesday everyone came dressed in beautiful outfits – we had Princesses, Handy Maney, Father Christmas’s, Elves, and even the odd dinosaur!

We welcomed back the lovely Debs from MAD Academy who was fabulous and had every single child mesmerised for over an hour with all the dancing, music and noise they got to make – there was dancing and giggling and beautiful singing, anyone walking past the hall would have heard some great renditions of Santa Got Stuck Up the Chimney.

Hungry and thirsty after all that MAD activity the children settled down to a wonderful array of food – all donated by the parents – the spread was fantastic so thank you everyone for contributing. Half way through the sandwiches and crisps there was the very distint noise of reindeer bells and the food had to be put on hold when we welcomed Father Christmas!

Father Christmas stayed for a chat and a drink before he had to get Rudolph and the reindeer back to North Pole to get ready for Christmas Eve.

On Thursday the children put on a great Fashion Show for all their mum’s and dad’s and impressed everyone with all the songs that they were singing – a great time was had by all!

The staff and committee would just like to take this opportunity to say to you all to have a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year! See you in January X

A Big Thank You

November 29, 2011

We had an amazing time on Saturday afternoon – not only were we lucky enough to be visited by Father Christmas (who spent rather a while talking to all the boys and girls so looks like we have a preschool full of very good little ones!) but we also had stalls of toys, cakes, lucky dips and even a treasure hunt!

As always we had our wonderful raffle and there are many business that we need to thank for donating prizes, our first huge thank you is for Mind Candy for donating both the boy and girl hamper – Thank You! We also need to say a big thank you to Piddleypix, Silver Birch Crafts, Monkey Stars Baby, B Skin Organics, Toni and Guy Maidenhead to name but a few very kind donations that we had.

Thank you all for coming, donating your time and energy into making the afternoon so successful! Please have a read of our latest letter from the management.

September 2011 Newsletter

September 21, 2011

Dear Parents

Hope you had a good summer, welcome to all our new ones and those returning. Last term the staff and children said goodbye to Lesley, Pauline and Sandy.

They have been running the pre- school for a very long time and we would like to wish them both a happy and relaxing retirement.

I think I have met most of the parents and children and i am looking forward to getting to know you all, I have worked as a Pre-School Manager for 11 years in Slough but have recently relocated to Farnborough, so have lots of experience within a childcare setting. Christine Doudican has now become the Assistant Manager and has also had lots of experience in childcare.

The Theme for this term all about me, to include stages of growing, family, where we live, senses, pets and healthy eating so lots of planned activities.

When you bring your child into pre-school could you please help your child to pick out their name card from the entrance table, they will have their name at register time, then post their name before going to play, it is normal for your child to cry when you first leave them, we will not let any child get to upset, but for some children this may be the first time that they have been left without a familiar adult around, if you’re worried about your child please feel free to ring Brookside to see how your child is doing, if a child does get very distressed we will ring you.

Pleases ensure that uniforms are labeled with your child’s name and we recommend that your child wears plimsoles while they are in pre-school.

We have had a big sort out during the summer holidays and have books and other toys for sale for a small donation, the items will be put out in the entrance. We rely on fundraising, this enables extra treats for the children so each month we will be having a cake sale, the first one on September 22nd we are asking all you lovely parents to make some cakes or donate shop bought ones, you may bring donations in from 19th, Thank you. We are always looking for new committee members to attend a few meetings and to help with fundraising please speak to me if you are interested.

To ensure your children’s safety please inform us if someone else will be picking up you child, you can tell us when you drop your child off, or ring before the end of the session and the information will be put on the board, would you also fill in the slip with a password for your child, for the staff to ask the adult picking your child up to verify that you have given them permission, we will not let any child leave with any one else without prior permission from you, please return the slip as soon as possible.

The First half term break will be 24th – 28th October.

During Story time we will be looking at a different colour and letter each week.

Week commencing Letter of the week Colour of the week
5th September A a Red
12th September B b Green
19th September C c Blue
26th September D d Yellow
3rd October E e Orange

Your child will be given a book bag for library books, Library days are Thursday and Friday for your child to borrow a book to share with you and change each week if they want.

Summer Trip to Birdworld

July 2, 2010

Last Friday was Brookside’s Summer Trip for both Duck and Ducklings. We headed over to Birdworld and the day was just perfect! The sun was shining, there was not a cloud in the sky and mummies, daddies, children and the ladies of pre-school were all ready for a day of fun!

Ready and waiting to go in!

We were lucky enough to have booked two slots with Jenny Wren Farm for the children to have 20 minutes handling some beautiful animals. There were baby chicks that had only been born that morning, rabbits, guinea pigs and mice. Every child sat beautifully still and held the animals so gently, that many a lovely photo was taken!

We all meet for lunch after a morning of looking at all sorts of birds, including the lovely pengiuns – and many an ice-cream was brought and enjoyed too!

Picnic Time!

Every child left Birdworld happy, smiling, and perhaps a little tired, but the ladies of Brookside that made the day happen, looked like they could have done it all again! Thank you ladies, the day would not have been as wonderful if it wasn’t for you!
